He has completed the colours for the bird and for the background.
He has also added some shine and glitter to the background, and finally put it all together.
It looks great and he is super happy with it.
Well done Tom.

Highlanders Flag.🚩

20 March 2019

Today when Tom and I were coming out of the library we stopped to chat to Mr Friend who is the school caretaker.
Tom noticed the Highlanders flag on Mr Friends Trailer.
Mr Friend very kindly gave a flag to Tom  and we attached it to his wheelchair for the day.
yahoo Mr Friend.
Thankyou.

"Go the Highlanders"

We made a card for Mr Friend to say thanks for the flag.
He has put it up on the wall in his shed.

This week when Room 5 were at swimming Tom and I worked in Room 12  after a visit to the library and getting a Star Wars book out. Tom got out of his chair and relaxed while we looked at his book together.
We did some sorting with Geometry Shapes and then headed back to Room 6 and read together while the class finished off some independent work.
Art again this week. Tom is layering and blending paint for the main part of his bird.

One of Tom's favorite class games during PE is stop ball. I am super happy with Tom and Room 5 because of the effort they put into team games to ensure everyone has a meaningful game. Huge thumbs up to you all.

Special Music started this week.
This is a 20 minute period full of music and movement and lots of fun and friendliness.
It is every Thursday Morning after interval. Tom enjoys the parachute and the rainbow ribbons.

Tom enjoyed a large part of the morning moving around independently and choosing people to work with in groups on Treaty of Waitangi Study.
Rooms 5 and 6 both have a strong sense of inclusiveness and it was lovely to see the genuine interactions happening with Tom and others.

We had lunch outside today under the tree for shade. Several other students joined us.

Term 1 Week 1

Hi everyone,

Welcome to Tom's blog.
I am hoping it will build a living diary of Toms time at Balmacewen,  and hopefully beyond if others that work with Tom see it as a useful tool.
In the meantime though, enjoy the posts and please please feel free to add posts, photos, videos and comments or feedback for Tom.
It is a fairly simple format so its easy to use and it's the comments that will keep the blog alive and  hopefully interesting.
It will be something that Tom can look at and hopefully enjoy as well.

OUR TREE

So Tom and Sue last year took a lot of notice in the changes of the tree outside Room 12. We decided to photograph the tree once a week and...
